Questions

Some frequently asked questions about the Music Gym:

  1. How do I start bringing someone to the Music Gym?
If you think someone might enjoy the Music Gym then contact us and we can arrange a Friday when you can both come to try it. If the visit’s successful then all you need to do is sign the membership forms and start coming on a regular basis.

  2. Can I drop someone off there?
No, if you bring someone you must stay with them at all times and be responsible for their safety. The Music Gym is not a care facility – and besides you’ll miss a great opportunity to have fun together.

  3. How much does it cost?
Currently the Music Gym costs £15 (+VAT) to come at any time between 10am and 3pm, and to stay for as long as you like. If you prefer to come later in the day, you can arrive after 12.30 and pay £10.

  4. Can I pay by cash on the day?
No. We try to keep the overhead costs of the Gym down to a minimum by sending out an invoice for the following month. This should be paid, by cheque or by BACS, before the first session of the month. Some homes prefer to pay by standing order – the cheapest way for our administration. Taking cash on the day increases our admin costs and isn’t secure.

  5. What if the person I bring can’t come one week?
A home can have an “open” place and rotate who they send. If you’re bringing an individual and (s)he can’t come for a while, because of illness for instance, then let us know as soon as possible.

  6. I live a long way away, can I just come occasionally?
For people who would like to visit the Music Gym but live more than 30 miles away we have a voucher scheme. You pay for the vouchers in advance and then hand in one for each person you bring when you visit. In the summer Hastings is a great place to visit for the day – you can come to the Music Gym then have fish and chips on the seafront.

  7. I don’t know how to use some of the equipment, will someone help me?
There’s a leaflet sent to you when you join which gives some safety rules and a brief description of the different pieces of equipment. If you forget it there are always copies on the desk. If you’d like to try something different, for instance the settings or volume on the Soundbeam, then Tom or Gary at the Music Gym will be happy to help you.

If you have any other questions, please send us a message using the form on the Contact page, and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
